Japanese Garden

I frequently walk through Penticton’s small but lovely Japanese garden. It’s very peaceful and relaxing, even in winter.

Although we’re fully into autumn now, it’s still quite green although most of the hydrangeas are fading …

… and some of the plants are showing their fall outfits.

What’s more indicative of autumn is the slant of the sun, the cool edge that the wind now has…

… and the tint of the sky. Somehow, this grey is different from the summer greys.

I can’t visit the garden without stopping to watch the fish for a bit. Some of them are very large and their colours definitely fit right in with the season.

Happy October. 🍂

  1. Japanese gardens are at their best in spring and autumn. This one looks very nice. My cranberry cotoneaster is nowhere the size of the one in the garden. Happy October Lynette. Allan

    1. I agree, Allan. They seem to do those looks very well. It’s a lovely little garden that really encourages people to slow down and chill, even if only for a bit. Yes, that cotoneaster is a large one! Cheers.

    1. I agree, Jude, autumn and spring are their best seasons and yes, they are very tranquil. I just strolled through today and even under grey skies it was lovely to stop to admire it.

    1. Yes, September and the beginning of October in particular are beautiful here, too. And those grey skies? Ugh. This valley gets socked in with low lying overcast in late December and January. We can drive up to a nearby ski resort for some lunch and sun, though!
