Sunflowers have such attractive and pretty late summer and autumn blooms and they have been the subject of many famous and beautiful paintings. Vincent Van Gogh, Claude Monet, Georgia O’Keeffe and Paul Gauguin spring to mind. I don’t paint, but I love taking photos of them. Here are a few favourites.

Have a sunflower day. 🌻
The Gold Finches luv them here in east Tennessee ❗️

Beautiful set of pictures of the sunflowers. I really should plant some in my garden next year.

They attract a lot of birds and butterflies, and of course, you can eat the seeds! They’re such pretty late summer flowers. Cheers.

Love these sunny flowers Lynette. We saw a field of them in PEI and just had to stop. Happy Wednesday. Allan

Thanks, Allan. Lovely! Fields of them are a stunningly beautiful sight. I would have stopped, too.

I had forgotten about that, Wayne. It’s something we used to do as kids. 😊

…….and Peter Gabriel, who used to dress as a sunflower in early Genesis shows…

Definitely! I forgot about Peter Gabriel and his outfits. He always looked like he had escaped a school play. 😊

The happiest flowers I know. (I just wrote this and then I saw that “Tofino” had written the same thing. Oh well….)

We’re seeing fields of them throughout Provence. They’re so pretty, like your photos.

I wonder if they will hold out for 2 more weeks when I arrive there?

Thank you very much, Belinda. Sunflowers are so pretty and bright, but they often get passed over. Glad to bring you a smile. 😊

We were in Kelowna in early May and enjoyed them blanketing the roadsides and fields. I can’t seem to grow them but love them as a bouquet. My daughter grows them very well so lucky me!

Were those the little Okanagan sunflowers (these are actually balsamroot plants, but everyone refers to them as sunflowers). They grow everywhere for about two weeks in April/May. They’re so pretty covering the hills with their yellow blooms. My mom was an amazing gardener and she always said that sunflowers need three things: a sunny location (naturally), lots of water and some good manure in the root area at planting!

Perhaps they were baldamroot plants but they look like mini sunflowers for sure. Well I’ve got loads of sun (as in no shade at all) but water is an issue.

Yes, if they were the little minis growing everywhere then they were probably the Okanagan sunflowers. Such pretty wild flowers. Cheers.
