Although we’re heading into September, there are still many, many late bloomers providing beauty, colour and scent. Here are some highlights from this week’s flower lovelies.

Happy long weekend.

Sadly most of my asters died this year and the other clump was badly eaten by S&S. They are making a come back, but I doubt they’ll flower. Those anemones are such a delicate colour, beautiful.

We don’t get many of those since it’s so dry here – we’re classified as semi-arid desert – but I remember my mother having similar issues in Sussex (and in eastern Canada when she lived there). She used to put crushed eggshells around the plants that were being eaten and had good success with that method. Good to hear that your asters are making a comeback. Yes, I love the colour of those anemones. They’re almost finished now but they were so pretty.

These are all stunning, but the floating flowers have always intrigued me. I hope you have a relaxing weekend!

Thank you very much, Tricia. I love the pond lilies. They are so beautiful. Sadly, they’re almost finished now but I made a point of enjoying them while I could.

I love those pond lilies and always try to stop by their pond to see them. We’re still getting lots of beautiful flowers that should last to the end of September. 🌸

Summer is definitely not going out without a final burst of glory. So many beautiful flowers before the wet and white. Happy Friday, Lynette. Allan

Thanks, Allan. We’re getting the ones that like to blossom in late summer and depending on their type, they will probably last to the end of September or beginning or October. I love that everything grows in stages here. Not like the north where that door suddenly closes and yes, it’s white and windy! Cheers.

Beautiful end of summer blooms Lynette. Looks like summer is back on here again, but likely not for long. Maggie

The ones that like to bloom in late summer are coming out everywhere and it’s so great to have those stages instead of everything all at once. Summer is back here, too. Daily highs of 30 or so but it’s cooling off at night which is great. Cheers.

Thanks, Anneli, although you wouldn’t know it from the temperatures. We’re back in the low 30s but it’s at least cooling off at night. Cheers.

That’s one of the things about the fall. More extreme differences in the night/day temperatures.
