Wapta Lake

From a recent flight over Wapta Lake, British Columbia, which is on the western side of the Rocky Mountains and situated between Banff and Glacier National Parks.

We have hiked Wapta Lake and the Wapta Falls a number of times, but not lately. It’s a very beautiful hike but quite busy in the summer.

Happy Monday.

    1. We had excellent flying weather that day so the views were fantastic. The hiking throughout the entire Rocky Mountain area is spectacular, although I haven’t hiked there for a few years now. Cheers. 😊

  1. Looks like a beautiful day in and over the mountains Lynette. We will be driving the South route on our next trip to Vancouver. It has been awhile (since 2017). Happy Monday. Allan

    1. Thanks, Allan. It sure was a pretty fantastic flying day with excellent weather. Are you going to be taking highway one or highway three? Highway three is slower, of course, but a great change of pace, especially once the traffic drops off in September. Either way, the scenery will be smashing with lots of places to stop.

  2. Beautiful picture. We drive by that area dozens of times each season. I don’t think that’s Wapta because ii is right on the highway with the hotel on the other, but is in the same stretch probably. Maggie

      1. We like going places where it isn’t a mob scene and that’s why local hikes are appealing. We’ll see what it’s like in Niagara Falls in a few weeks – probably busy – haha!

        1. We’re not big on the crowds, either. Niagara Falls (on either side) is usually pretty busy, I think. We were there in early May, and were surprised at the numbers of people as we thought it might be a bit less crowded. Maybe autumn is different, though. Certainly you will be able to enjoy the leaves! I encourage you to post some pictures. 😊

  3. Beautiful shot! We hiked to Wapta Falls a few years ago and it wasn’t very busy. But that was likely because of how dark and menacing the clouds looked. We had to really hustle back before a major thunderstorm rolled in.

    1. I haven’t hiked to Wapta Falls in a long time but we’re thinking of a trip to the Banff/Lake Louise/Wapta Falls area for next year. We were married in Banff and M used to work in Lake Louise when he was a young sprout. 😊
