We seem to be getting the last of the greatest summer heat; today it was 31C (87.8F) and the temperature is expected to gradually drop into the high 20s over the course of the next week.

The foliage, the water and the very air seem to be dropping back, sliding into a softness and a relaxation after the extremes of heat we have experienced.

Or maybe it’s not that elegant; maybe it’s just simple fatigue. In any event, I’m going to savour some beach afternoons in the cooler temperatures that are beginning to arrive. It’s time to enjoy the lakes that have been warming up all summer!
I wish I could say the same here, Lynette, but we’re going to smoulder for a while yet. On my way to the beach as we speak 🤗❤️

Yes, we will still get very hot days for a bit – likely singles – but those consistently high temperatures will begin to taper off now. Going to the beach sounds excellent. Stay cool. 😎

It was like a switch was flipped at the end of July. You could tell summer was on the wane, even if the temps were not. Looking forward to warm sunny days and cool evenings. Happy Wednesday Lynette. Allan

Thanks, Allan. I am too. Yes, there’s a tipping point at the end of July or beginning of August where the changes are very subtle but there, nevertheless. We have the Peach Festival this weekend (sans peaches!), the last big tourist attraction of summer and then will drift into more comfortable temperatures and quieter streets. Cheers.

Love that second picture. Wish it was that cool here…it’s been in the low 100’s here the past few weeks.

Thank you very much. 😊 We had a couple of weeks of 38-39C (100-102F) in early July and I am glad that’s over! Stay cool.

Beautiful scenes, though those temperatures are too high for me.

Those temperatures are normal for end of July and beginning of August but unfortunately in more recent years they have been starting earlier and lasting longer. I’m looking forward to the cooler temperatures that are on their way!

Enjoy the nicer weather! It was hot and humid here all last week but thankfully it’s been much more comfortable these past couple of days. It’s been in the low to mid-20Cs. We could use some rain though.

Thanks, Linda. I’m so glad that we don’t experience humidity; combined with high temperatures all that moisture in the air can be really nasty. Glad to hear that you’re getting better weather now. Yes, we could definitely use some rain as well – sounds like whole country could!

We’ve already dropped, and I am missing the warmth while we are lakeside. Love your words and your photos.

Thank you very much, Bernie. 😊 We are still quite hot, just not as hot. The high today is 32. What has really been noticeable is that the temperature is dropping off at night now.

Ugh that you think 32 is cooling off!!

Right? It was up to 39, so 32 is a lot better!

We also had a hot summer so far. But the temperatures have dropped since yesterday, it is really nice for a change😍

It has been just scorching. I’m looking forward to a bit of a cool-off, for sure. I’ve noticed that the evenings are much more comfortable now, though.

maybe the cooler temperatures will help keep the fires back.

That has helped to some extent but we really could do with more rain.
