Northern Ontario Lakes

We stopped to stretch our legs and admire these lakes as we finished driving west through Ontario in May.

Pristine, crisp and clear, there were many of these lovely small lakes.

It had finally stopped raining and we were able to enjoy some walking near these blue-laced ponds of the Canadian Shield.

Happy weekend.

    1. It was a beautiful day for admiring them! Yes, very quiet and calm. Excellent if you need to really get away from everything. We saw quite a few cottages tucked away here and there on some of these lakes, including one built on an island in a lake. Others seemed completely empty of people.

  1. The thing I admire most about the Ontario lakes is how clean they are due to their depth. In Alberta, most lakes outside the mountain parks are shallow and have very muddy bottoms. A trail by a lake is a good trail to be on. Happy Saturday Lynette. Allan

    1. I agree. Alberta lakes are usually shallow and muddy and lack that inviting, crystalline clarity. Those Canadian Shield lakes are so iconic. We really enjoyed walking next (with bear bells!) to them. So beautiful.
