  1. Wow! Lynette, a great idea for posting a time lapse post capturing the wonder of Iceland! I thought the roads were empty in Sweden but Iceland takes it to a new level. 😀

    1. Thank you very much, Annika. 😊 We have been very taken with how we can encounter a barren scree cliff in one minute and in the next, verdant farm fields with trees and horses! The southern part has busier roads but I also timed this photo to avoid capturing other traffic. However, we drove through the interior over the last couple of days and the traffic there was quite sparse.

  2. There is seldom a boring trip in Iceland, even when you seem to be driving through barren land. Our Golden Circle trip had it all, but the trip to Vik was a close 2nd. Glad you are enjoying Lynette. Allan

    1. Thanks, Allan. We had quite the drive yesterday through the high plains; we found ourselves in such a brutal wind with snow and freezing rain! Our whale watching trip from Akureyri for today was unfortunately cancelled because of the terrible weather, so we’re having a relatively quiet afternoon instead. Agreed, Allan, there is seldom a boring trip!

          1. I don’t remember them being bad at the beaches but in the wooded areas, you can get a few no-see-ums happening – and mosquitos, of course. But often it’s windy and that seems to take care of the bug problem. That’s also why it tends to be a bit chilly at the beaches. You need the wind to blow the clouds away for your sunny day to happen but that’s also why it’s cooler.
