Mindemoya Lake

We very much enjoyed our rambles around Manitoulin Island where we discovered beautifully clear, lovely lakes.

Walking along on well-worn footpaths near the lake was delightful. It was wonderful to be able to admire the water quality, the birds and the utter tranquility.

We experienced a few black flies but there was a light breeze that kept them down on that day!

Happy Friday.

  1. I’ve been really enjoying these posts. I’ve been on the Michigan/US side of Lake Huron, so seeing the Manitoulin/Canadian side is fascinating. Looks beautiful!

    1. I’m glad you like them, Luke. Yes, geographically they would have a lot in common but not as much population. It definitely is beautiful and seems like it might be something of a secret, too. Cheers.

  2. I spent one evening in South Carolina–with all their flying critters–and realize I’m not made for those environments. I’m glad your black flies were quiet that day.

    1. My patience for – as you say so well – flying critters, has grown very short. My home in British Columbia is rather bug-free, and you can walk or sit comfortably outside in the evenings without having to resort to all manner of bug protections. Ontario, on the other hand, is a veritable encyclopedia of all kinds of little biting vampires!
