Recent spring lovelies …

… have brought a smile to my face …

… a lightness to my spirit …

… and an energy to my step.

It’s amazing what a bit of sun …

… and a few flowers can do. Strictly speaking, we don’t need them to survive, but my, don’t they lift us? 🌸
Gorgeous! Happy weekend, Lynette!

Thank you very much, Stuart, and you’re very welcome. It’s such a pretty time of year, isn’t it?

It’s a bit slower here, mostly due to the wet weather, but it will arrive in full bloom soon.

Yes, it will definitely arrive, even if it takes its time! This valley is a micro-climate and tends to be ahead of much of the country, although not ahead of Vancouver and Victoria. Victoria’s cherry blossoms were out at the beginning of March!

We also have a micro-climate in our small valley, Lynette. It’s generally dependent on wind direction. Westerlies tend to lose their rain over Wales before they reach us. But northeasterlies can inhabit the valley for longer than we’d wish, and they bring the cold!

I find micro-climates very interesting; so many differences from climate 10km away.

Lovely photos again, Lynette. I spent some time in Leningrad (as it was then) in 1991 and I was amazed at all the people who couldn’t afford/source food buying flowers from the stalls near almost every metro station. Nature really does lift the spirits.

Thank you very much, Nellifant. 🌸 It’s interesting how people will sometimes give up necessities in order to have a bit of luxury. I agree; life isn’t just about taking care of our basic needs. We need to feel happy or at least somewhat contented, otherwise we’re just struggling to exist, aren’t we?

I’m thinking maybe we do need them to survive. Anyway, they make life better with their happy colours.
