Mountain Walk

On a walk in the nearby mountains, we saw this squirrel.

There’s still quite a bit of snow at the higher elevations, but I don’t think it will last long. This little guy wasn’t too bothered by our presence.

Happy Sunday.

  1. Lynette, the squirrel is so cute and the red ones especially so - here in the UK we mostly have the grey ones! They don’t usually sit still long enough to get such good photos of them!

    1. Red and Douglas squirrels are native to this area and their numbers seem to be healthy. The grey squirrel was introduced many years ago to Vancouver but they are now trapped if found as they can cause major habitat damage to a large number of other animals and birds.
This one was looking for a food cache so he was relatively motionless for just a bit. Cheers.

    1. The greys are native to eastern N. America and the reds to the west, including British Columbia. They are a lot smaller than the greys and don’t inhabit towns or cities; you have to go into the forests to see (or more likely hear) them. Cheers.
