The City of Penticton always puts on a light show during December, and this year added a tunnel.

The tunnel proved to be very popular, especially with children, and so it was decided that it should stay until the end of January.

Given how grey, rainy and overcast it has been – and as of today including a little snow – I agree with the city’s decision. These pretty lights are definitely a little mood booster.

Apparently we will be getting our rain back tomorrow but according to the weather gods, we are supposed to get SUN on Wednesday. Fingers crossed.
Happy Tuesday.
Any spot of colour will help lighten the winter greys. The city had a good idea. Happy Tuesday Lynette. Allan

Thanks, Allan.
For sure. It has been so very grey. We have have sun today but apparently will have to be sure to enjoy it as it’s the only projected sun spot on the horizon for a while!

The tunnel looks not only festive but inviting too. Happy Tuesday Lynette.

Thanks, Tricia. It’s such a pretty and inviting bright spot, especially in our gloomy, overcast weather.

So pretty, will they keep it up for the winter? You’ll get rain, we’ll get -30!!

I think they’re keeping it up until the end of January. In February the weather starts to become a lot better and of course the days get longer too. -30? Where are you?

Very popular with the adults too, I expect. It looks like fun 😊

Oh yes, adults like it too. It is quite fun and something of a mood lifter too with it being so overcast.

That tunnel was a good idea. Brightens things up.

It sure does, Anneli. We have such a low, heavy overcast right now and the lights really do brighten things up.

It’s pretty gray here too right now. The lights help keep our spirits up. We have a nice set of little white lights on the trees along the main road in Comox, that is good for perking things up in the winter.

There are many good reasons why humanity’s northern hemisphere ancestors all had some kind of light festival along with feasting and celebration in December/January. It’s so mood-lifting to see these pretty lights when the weather is cold, sodden and leaden. I think your winter weather in Comox might be similar to ours.

Here, there’s not only a light at the end of the tunnel,
But all the way through….and at the start.
For our soul must see the way through the darkness….
And the City of Penticton has a heart.

That’s lovely, mistermuse. 😊 Having some light at the start of the tunnel too is a difference that makes all the difference.

Hello Lynette, this is a lovely scene, thank you for posting. It reminded me of the winter light display in Korea. They had 3 or 4 of these light tunnels on a ground that was also dusted with snow. 🙂 — Amor

Hi Amor, thank you very much for commenting. Korea’s light display is much larger and more impressive but those light tunnels really seem to resonate with people. I think it might be the sense of being enclosed by light. 😊 Cheers.

Glad to hear they left the tunnel up for longer given how popular it’s become. I honestly can’t remember the last time I’ve seen the sun. It’s been a very gloomy winter here.

As a result of this terrible cold snap that we’re having, we now have sun. Honestly, I would take the overcast if it meant we could have a more normal temperature! Ugh.

Is there a light at the end of this tunnel?

There’s not only light at the end, there’s light through the tunnel, too. 😊
