As we returned to British Columbia from our holiday, we had beautiful weather over the Rocky Mountains before arriving in the Okanagan Valley. It’s not often that such clear weather occurs in December over the mountains, so I felt lucky to see this fantastic sight.

Happy Thursday.
Magnificent sights from the sky!
Talk about a Rocky Mountain High!

This was quite a treat. I’ve flown over the Rockies many times, but rarely have I gotten such a clear view in winter. Definitely a Rocky Mountain High!

I haven’t had many clear views like that over the Rockies. Gorgeous! Maggie

I haven’t either, despite having flown so many, many times over them. It was such a beautiful vista.

Wow, Lynette, just wow. You had a front row seat to winter mountain splendour. Amazing how such a familiar cold scene can bring warm feelings when you know you are almost home. Happy Thursday. Allan

Thanks, Allan.
I agree. It’s so rare to get such a good winter view of the Rockies. We were flying in a small turboprop at a much lower altitude than a jet and were able to get these closer views. In a word, they are magnificent. Yes – I like how you put that: a familiar cold scene can definitely bring warm feelings! Cheers.

The Rockies–iconic, romantic, so much emotion in one picture. I love this view of them.

They sure are, Jacqui! So evocative of so much sentiment and passion. The aerial views show just how huge they are, don’t they? Cheers.

Many years ago…right around late 2000…I took a flight to Las Vegas, NV, from NC. I remember being fascinated with the interesting designs on the ground, from the plane window. I didn’t have a camera with me but, I really enjoyed “fly-over” country.

I completely agree. I’ve enjoyed a lot of it (I’m a pilot) especially during summer and autumn. This view was very special because it was so clear during December, which isn’t usually the case. Cheers.

I love how the clouds look like rivers flowing in-between the mountains.

I’ve never gotten such good photos of that weather phenomenon before. They actually do move like rivers between the mountain ranges. Cheers.

It was such clear weather and we were flying at a lower altitude which afforded really excellent views. So great for December!
