Hello Rockies; Hello Home

As we returned to British Columbia from our holiday, we had beautiful weather over the Rocky Mountains before arriving in the Okanagan Valley. It’s not often that such clear weather occurs in December over the mountains, so I felt lucky to see this fantastic sight.

Approaching the Rocky Mountains from Calgary.
Viewing in quiet appreciation …
… of this truly spectacular sight …
… an amazing wonder of our beautiful world.

Happy Thursday.

  1. Wow, Lynette, just wow. You had a front row seat to winter mountain splendour. Amazing how such a familiar cold scene can bring warm feelings when you know you are almost home. Happy Thursday. Allan

    1. Thanks, Allan.
I agree. It’s so rare to get such a good winter view of the Rockies. We were flying in a small turboprop at a much lower altitude than a jet and were able to get these closer views. In a word, they are magnificent. Yes – I like how you put that: a familiar cold scene can definitely bring warm feelings! Cheers.

      1. Many years ago…right around late 2000…I took a flight to Las Vegas, NV, from NC. I remember being fascinated with the interesting designs on the ground, from the plane window. I didn’t have a camera with me but, I really enjoyed “fly-over” country.

        1. I completely agree. I’ve enjoyed a lot of it (I’m a pilot) especially during summer and autumn. This view was very special because it was so clear during December, which isn’t usually the case. Cheers.
