I stopped at the ducks’ favourite spot to provide them with a nutritious treat: cooked quinoa. They loved it and me too as long as I was scattering it on the ground. I was expecting more loyalty but as it turns out they’re rather fickle!

I was quite mobbed and one duck grabbed my pant leg and hung on, definitely wanting me to single him out, but how he was going eat and hold on, I’m not sure.

I wasn’t too concerned about making sure everyone got some, although I did try to do that. These ducks are quite well fed: just as I was finishing up, someone else was arriving with a big bag of veggies cut into duck-sized bites.

These birds are definitely the town pets – make no wonder they stay year round!
I love that line of males in the third shot.

They did align rather well!

An interesting experience. Looks like these guys are getting too reliant on people. As to the duck attack, there is always one in every crowd who demands attention….and food. Happy Wednesday Lynette. Allan

Thank you, Allan.
They perhaps are, but they also do a lot of foraging, too. Their little community is on a walk I frequently take, and I do see them regularly fending for themselves. But a few of them are a bit aggressive – I wouldn’t allow a child to feed them, for instance. And yes, there’s always a pantster in every crowd! Cheers.

The pant leg quacker attacker should pay his bill
For any damage he caused, but I doubt if he will.

Hahaha. 😁 That’s fantastic; I love it!
And nope, he didn’t pay for the damage although there really wasn’t much. Just needed a wash. 😉

How funny; they are quite aggressive when it comes to food!

A few of them are (the guy pulling on my pants leg!) but the vast majority were just crowding around me. They sure didn’t want to miss their chance at some nibbles.

Now that’s not something I thought I’d read about today. Made me laugh out loud. Thanks.

The town pets–love that.

There’s a small community up the lake that has peacocks for town pets. By comparison we’re pretty mundane. 😉

Oh, and ducks are SO much quieter than peacocks!!

Yes, the peacocks can certainly kick up quite a racket. These like to approach people and fan their tails, so they’re quite impressive crowd pleasers.

I was glad to hear you’re not feeding them bread. Wish I could have seen the pantleg gripper.

Happily, people stop by with usually quite nutritious snacks for them.
The pants leg gripper is quite the guy! He was all about getting my attention but had no way to eat with his bill occupied like that!

Haha. I hope he figures that out before he gets too skinny.

Maybe you had quinoa flavoured clothing by the time Mr Bitey Duck came by!

I don’t know what that duck was trying to accomplish. With his mouth full of denim, he was missing out on the real quinoa!

Mobbed by ducks, yikes 😏

Wasn’t too bad except for the young male who decided that grabbing my pants leg would secure him more food. There’s one in every crowd. 😉

Food is always a great way to make friends! These ducks certainly look well fed.

Oh yes, these ducks are treated well. Very fussed over and the city will feed them if it gets too cold in the winter. They are definitely “community pets!”
