Is this an interstellar spacecraft …

… or just a triangular-shaped cloud hanging near the side of the valley?

I vote cloud, lake and resting autumn grape vines!
Happy Sunday.

Love this. I saw some clouds near Yakima years ago that looked like space ships; it was quite amusing. I hope you’re having a nice weekend.

Thank you; I am. 🙂
These triangular-shaped clouds are called lenticular (lens-shaped) and have lots of updrafts and downdrafts inside them. We were getting lots of rain showers and wind over a lake bordered by mountains, so perfect conditions for their development. They are such an interesting shape. I once read a piece suggesting that lenticular clouds might be at least partially responsible for UFO sightings!

It is always fun to see familiar shapes in clouds and other features of nature. It takes us back to our childhood sense of wonder and that is a good thing. Happy Sunday Lynette. Allan

Thank you.
I agree, Allan. I saw this one while out walking and was reminded of an article I read a while ago stating that lenticular clouds are probably responsible for a lot of UFO sightings. The truth is out (up?) there. 😉

Right? Lenticular clouds look amazing.

Ooooh! I love it! If it’s near a hot tub, it’s probably an otherworldly spacecraft. Otherwise, it’s probably a cloud.

Hahaha. 😁 Those aliens are always trying to relax after a hard day of inter-planetary mind games (are they real, not real, other- dimensional?) and cluttering up other people’s hot tubs! Unfortunately though, this one was over a lake.

Thanks Anneli. It reminded me of a piece I read about how lenticular clouds (these triangular type clouds are fairly common in certain weather conditions) may be responsible for many UFO reports!

I hope that’s the source of the UFO reports!

It’s neat how clouds can take on such interesting shapes and patterns. And every time you look up at the sky, it’s always changing.

I agree. The cloud formations in the mountains are amazing; I love looking at them. This particular cloud type is known as lenticular – not something you would want to fly through but beautiful to watch.
