A ginkgo biloba tree …

… has lost all its leaves …

… and in so doing, has provided a colourful ground carpet …

… of lovely fan-shaped summer reminders.
Happy Monday.

If I remember correctly, there are both male and female Ginkos. I know for sure that there are both male and female Gingolds. Their fan-shaped leaves and parallel venation are unique… also if I remember correctly.

Yes, you are right on both counts. Ginkgo trees are either male or female and the fan-shaped leaves are beautiful and unique. I’ve never consumed it as a medicine, but I understand that it’s thought to have many benefits that are now being studied in human trials. Gingolds are different in that they produce visual works that are very soothing to the psyche. 🙂

This is a beautiful tree, even when the leaves are on the ground. Happy Tuesday Lynette. Allan

Thanks, Allan. I agree. I wanted to get a picture while the leaves were still on the tree, but I missed them. Instead, I liked how the fan-shaped leaves were fanned over the ground.

Ah yes, it’s that time of year when most of the leaves have already changed and fallen, and now it’s time to get to work and rake them all up before the weather turns.

That’s so true and a few years ago I would have been doing the same. I don’t have a yard any more, which has both advantages and drawbacks. Cheers.
