The rain continues with overcast skies punctuated by short sunny breaks and quite a lot of wind! Autumn has definitely blown in.

It’s still very comfortable outside but the cooler temperatures are nice even if the wind tries to steal your shirt! There will likely be a few more completely lovely days before autumn’s invigorating coolness and stunning colours start arriving.
Happy Tuesday.
Long warm falls are great. We rode 30 km in the river valley yesterday and managed to see the foliage before the Autumn winds blew it all off. Glorious. Maybe rain here next week. Not holding my breath. Happy Tuesday Lynette. Allan

Thank you, Allan. Yes, I remember those winds blowing the leaves off the trees in Medicine Hat when I lived there. I had forgotten how predictable they were. Except for the heat-stressed trees (they began dropping their leaves in August) we haven’t started to develop many colours yet. I remember how lovely that river valley is when the autumn paintbrush arrives. I hope you get some rain soon.

That cheeky Autumn wind – it does tend to surprise us! Like you, we are enjoying a mild start to the season and I look forward to the lush leafy colours in the next two months! Happy Autumn, Lynette!

Thank you very much and to you, too. Yes, it’s very cheeky! Further west on the coast there are wind warnings and apparently water spouts as well, so it’s packing a wallop near the ocean. I’m looking forward to those colours also. Always such a gorgeous time of year.

Yes, the views are beautiful and it’s such a relief to get some moisture and cooler temperatures! Cheers.

Pretty views! It’s actually quite warm in the UK at the moment. The summer was quite rainy for the most part (some trees started to change colour in July, which is extraordinary) but now we have a mild autumn instead. Not sure how long that will last though.

Thank you. Yes, the views here are rather great.
Wow – trees changing colours in July? I heard that the UK had quite a cool summer, but agreed, that’s extraordinary. We had some heat-stressed trees drop their dry brown leaves in August; it’s surprising that there weren’t more considering how hot it has been. It’s great that you’re finally getting some good weather. You’ll have to enjoy it while you can!

I’ll take the cooler temperatures and wind over the heat any day. I must say, it’s nice that it’s actually beginning to feel like fall (rather than a longer summer).

It’s still fairly warm here (daytime highs are around 20) but so much cooler and the rain has been so great. We’re still not showing much colour change though, so it does feel a bit like a longer summer.

The leaves are starting to change here, but we’re currently experiencing summer-like temperatures. We might even have to turn our AC on again.

We have had such wacky weather (climate change, in my opinion). We’re supposed to get summer conditions next week as well. Cheers.

Same. It’s been hot these past couple of days (it’s supposed to reach a high of 29C today). But then it’s supposed to cool down to single digits the following week. Thankfully we have some rain on the forecast though.

Our temperatures have recently been revised down to the low 20s and I’m happy about that because I can see so many heat-stressed plants and trees around. They really don’t need it. Fingers crossed that it rains for you.
