On the weekend, the wind came up, the sky began to darken and the rain started.

A very welcome arrival.
Happy Monday.

A prelude to autumn weather. We are really dry here right now. I need to start watering my trees in before winter hits. Have a wonderful Monday Lynette. Allan

Thank you. Wow! It seems that your summer has been a feast or famine in the rain department, Allan. As Iβve indicated before, we were fortunate enough to get a few showers here and there which mitigated the worst of the drought and the fires here in our little spot, but we are really dust, dust dry. We definitely need rain.

Here too. What a relief to get some rain. Too bad it’s always “all or nothing” with the sunshine and rain.

Exactly. And I agree, it seems to have been all or nothing in so many places. We had showers throughout the summer which I think were very helpful, but they were also very localised and only enough to stave off the worst.

It sure is. It’s like a typical winter day (wind and rain) except that it’s still several degrees warmer, which makes it quite pleasant.

I heard that the ferries are closed and that there are power outages. Iβm assuming that you havenβt been affected, Anneli. I agree that the cooler (but not cold) temperatures are so nice. Such a relief from the summer oven we just had.

They sometimes cancel sailings when the winds are high but it’s usually very temporary.

I feel like we’ve had more rain than usual here in California. I’m a little afraid of what winter will bring.

It seems as if so many localities experienced weather extremes this summer. Droughts, floods, forest fires. Ugh. I hope your weather normalises soon.

Wonderful to get rain there after a dry and fiery summer. We had a gorgeous, sunny weekend with comfortable temps. Then, overnight last night we were awakened by loud, booming thunder and a good hard rain.

Thatβs pretty wonderful! A sunny warm weekend followed by rain. We havenβt had any hard rain yet and at this point it wouldnβt be great since we are so, so dry. Ideally we need lots of slow rain, but really, even the merest sprinkle or hardest hard rain would be welcome!

Itβs always a relief to get some rain after a long dry spell.

It sure is, especially as this has been such a difficult summer for extremes. I think weβre going to have to get used to the fact that the climate is changing.

Glad to hear. We could use some rain. Everything is looking a bit dry and crispy here. But at least the temperature is a bit cooler, especially overnight.

Thanks, Linda. Agreed; it has been such a hot dry summer. Some of the heat-stressed trees just dropped their dry brown leaves with no colour change at all, but for the most part everything is still green and doing better now that itβs cooler and thereβs more rain!
