We have entered a period of beautiful weather: warm, sunny and windless. The lake has been like a millpond.

But there’s something undefinably autumnal about the tone and atmosphere, as if the earth is releasing a long held breath and settling into a comfortable chair before heading into winter. The geese are eating and flocking; the leaves are starting to turn and the very air seems to be drowsing.

It’s time to enjoy this lovely pause.
Happy Friday.
The time’s they are a’changin’. At least they are season-wise. Autumn is slowly approaching until we suddenly realize the foliage is changed and there’s frost on the grass. Have a lovely weekend, Lynette. We’re getting a close call from Lee.

They sure are. Autumn is definitely approaching. I am really enjoying this slow descent and especially the temperatures right now. We’re spending an afternoon at the beach in the next day or two to just enjoy this approaching autumn lake. Cheers.

I’m such a fan of the transition between the seasons. Sometimes it happens in a blink of an eye.

Me too. The transition to autumn and then to winter tends to be slower here because we’re protected in a valley but in the north the transition is very rapid, and you can almost set your watch that in the subarctic, there will be a major snowstorm either on or just before Halloween.

Seeing ducks on water is always so peaceful and a reminder of the magic of our world. ❤

Hi Carol, these are actually Canada geese, but I muted them for effect so yes, they do look like ducks. They are definitely flocking and getting ready to leave. Agreed – our world is indeed magical. Cheers.

Oh, there are a lot of Canada geese around here and I love to see them fly above but also hear their sounds! Yes, we do have a magical world and thank you, Lynette, for pointing it out! ❤

They’re busy practising their formations both in the air and on water right now – it’s lovely to see them. 🙂

Yup. Autumn is here. The geese are gathering and fattening up and my lawn is covered with oak leaves. Best time of the year until it turns white. Happy Friday Lynette. Allan

Thanks, Allan. Agreed – it is such a beautiful time of year. Not too many leaves on the ground here yet (we are seeing some heat-stressed trees where the leaves are just drying out and falling off, not turning at all) but some. More will arrive! Cheers.

Yesterday was our first day when it felt autumnal. And I am here for it. This summer has been too hot and humid and hazy for me. Bring on the change of season.

I understand and agree. Here, August was terrible (although many people would say that the entire summer was). All the fires, smoke and heat was awful (and tragic given the amount of damage to forests and some towns completely destroyed). Yes, bring on the change of season!

I couldn’t have said it better myself, Lynette (as if the earth is releasing a long held breath). Like Ally in her comment, I’m ready to let go of these hot, dry days and enjoy the relief of autumn.

Thank you, Anneli. Me too. From so many angles, this hasn’t been a good summer (especially August) and it’s time to leave the hot dry days. The weather right now is just so great. Lovely to sit outside; very enjoyable.

Nice metaphor. We’ve had gorgeous weather here, too. Temperatures are comfortable during the day and cool nights. We are still low on much needed rain, though. Enjoy and have a nice weekend.

Thank you very much, Lori. The weather at this time of year can be so terrific. Agreed – we are low on rain also. A nice slow one over a couple of days would be a very good thing. You have a good weekend also. Cheers.

Thank you very much, Terry. These are actually geese, but I deliberately blurred them for effect, so I agree that they look like ducks. Presently, the weather couldn’t be better. Cheers.

Guess I should have looked closer.

You’re not the only one who thought they looked like ducks. I blurred them a little too much!
