What’s in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet.
~ Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet

[We have] our memories so that we might have roses in December.
~ J.M. Barrie

Of all the flowers, methinks a rose is best.
~ Fletcher and Shakespeare, Two Noble Kinsmen

We can complain because rose bushes have thorns, or rejoice because thorn bushes have roses.
~ Alphonse Karr, Lettres Écrites De Mon Jardin
Happy Monday.
We spotted an unusual variety (well several actually) on our Vancouver walks. Roses are always beautiful. Happy Monday Lynette. Allan

Thanks, Allan. Yes, I keep spotting unusual varieties as well, especially of the five and six petal variety. It’s delightful to spot them everywhere, growing wild, too. Cheers.

That’s a really nice saying by Alphonse Karr. There’s always a silver lining, ❤

Sorry for my late response to your comment, Carol, but I weirdly just found it in my spam.
Yes, I like that quote very much, too. 🙂

Lovely photos and quotes. I particularly like the J.M. Barries one.

My mother used to grow roses and them had everywhere. She spent a lot of time on them (gardening was a passion for her) and the result was gorgeous. They aren’t my favourite flowers but they always remind me of her and yes, they are so beautiful.
