A frozen sunflower head droops forlornly …

… but still contains many of its seeds, providing winter sustenance for birds and squirrels.
Happy Sunday.

You’re right to say “forlorn”, that sunflower actually looks sad!

Doesn’t it? It seemed so dejected, all dry and frost-covered like that, but the reason I noticed it is that a bird was getting a seed from it. Nature makes use of everything. 🙂

A real hoar show Lynette. We had a bit of hoar frost here on Friday. Always so pretty. Happy Sunday. Allan

Hahaha. 🙂 Thanks, Allan. Last night we were hit by a massive storm with 80 km winds, dropping temperatures and 10 cm of snow! It’s projected to continue into tomorrow. Are you experiencing anything like that?

Happy Sunday! We certainly got a wallop of snow this past week. It seems to be melting, but not fast enough for me.

Yes, a terrible storm seems to have hit much of the west coast from Oregon to British Columbia. We are being walloped here in the subarctic as well, but that’s not unusual for this geographic location!

Gorgeous capture. I love how you can see some of the teeny tiny snowflakes on the frozen sunflower.

Thank you very much, Linda. This was a bit of a lucky one as I was in a hurry when I saw it and only took one photo.
