A frozen sunflower head droops forlornly …
… but still contains many of its seeds, providing winter sustenance for birds and squirrels.
As if we needed reminding of its power, winter came roaring back on the weekend in a very windy, snowy blast.
Some of its leftovers were pretty, but I wish it would go away now!
After a lovely little reprieve of -5C (23F) for a couple of days, we plunged to -35 in a matter of hours. This resulted in a very heavy fog that quickly froze as it cooled and settled. We had a thick rime on everything.
Very cold, but a beautiful result.
