I passed this young deer as he was having a snack near a sidewalk.

He briefly stared at me before deciding I was of no consequence and returned to his yummies.

Meanwhile, his mom decided that she didn’t like me and crossed the road.

Not too quickly, but she made her point.

    1. Yes, it has been very dry (with two recent fires nearby, as well) causing the deer to more frequently come into town where they can get access to gardens. My neighbour had to entirely enclose his garden because the deer were getting in so often.

    1. He was definitely establishing his independence from mom! It was interesting getting those photos as they were so close but in my hurry I started scrambling around. They turned out okay though. Cheers.
