Pretty. We’re growing a few sunflowers this year. They’re so bright and sunny. They attract a lot of ants and other bugs, but they still cheer up the yard. 🌻
Thanks. That was an interesting read, and I learned the facts of life all over again. 😊 Mine seems to fit the pollenless kind. However, I’ve seen lots of bees on it. In fact, I put up a photo on my blog with a bee on it. Also, I never see hummingbirds in my neck of the woods, and suddenly they’re coming to flutter around our sunflower plant. But the flowers are the smaller ones and don’t have seeds. Figures, I would get the misfit sunflower. 😁
Aww, that’s too bad. Rabbits and squirrels will both eat young plants (deer too). You seem to have lots of them around so next year you could consider using a predator spray. Canadian Tire has it – I just saw it a couple of days ago when I was looking for something else. Called “Wolf Mist” I think. Cheers.
Good call. I’ve tried this Critter Ridder spray, but it hasn’t been very effective. Sprinkling cayenne pepper seems to help, but hopefully the Wolf Mist is even better.
Thanks!! This year has been a lot of trial and error to see what works, both in terms of growing veggies and flowers, and trying to keep the critters out of my garden.

Yes, they are definitely cheery and of course, so pretty. You can eat the seeds later on (or save them for your favourite squirrel)! 🙂

I love sunflowers. I tried growing a couple in my backyard, but either the bunnies or chipmunks bit all the stems off before they could even flower.
