They won’t kill you (or Emma) but they can make humans, dogs and cats very sick. It’s a good idea to keep Emma safe from them. Some types will even make deer sick. They are only for looking. 🙂
When we used to have deer wandering through the yard, I wondered how they knew not to eat the daffodils. They ate nearly everything else. Maybe toxic plants have a bitter taste. Maybe it’s just luck.
Tulips are so pretty. We have a few flowers that have just started to bloom in our garden. No tulips though. I’ll need to fix that this fall and plant some bulbs.
Right now, our only tulips are strictly indoor plants. It’s still too cold for them although I have been surprised by how many types of bulbs have adapted to the cold and will bloom away, even in the snow. Have fun choosing what you’re going to plant!
There is something about tulips, isn’t there, that makes us smile.

They look good enough to eat (but I think they’re poisonous).

Yes, you are only allowed to look and appreciate. Stews and sauces are forbidden! 😉

I was surprised to read that all parts of the plant are so bad. All my tulips are behind the fenced area out of Emma’s reach.

My understanding is that some of them not only taste pretty bad but also smell bad (to a deer, I guess) and they will avoid those.
