One of the most beautiful winter phenomena
is ice fog. It occurs in wind-still conditions when water droplets in the air become supercooled.
It can be dangerous for travelling but if you don’t have to go anywhere, it’s beautiful to see.
Winter’s greetings. π

Gorgeous. Still have a spare bed for me? Assuming you’re not in the Caribbean when I visit… π

Any time, Brian … except for next week. I am going to be in the Caribbean in four days. As much as I admire itβs beauty, I need a break from the cold. π

It is beautiful. I have seen this when I lived in the Pacific Northwest U.S.

Thank you. π This type of phenomenon often occurs in damper environments – a bit unusual for a continental climate.

We have not seen any ice fog here yet this year. I always look forward to the hoar frost results the next morning, especially when the sun shines. Cheers. Allan

The effects of ice fog are really quite breathtaking – so beautiful. Unfortunately, once the sun starts shining on it, it disappears fast.

We just had a round of this here last week. We were lucky that it didn’t really impact the roads much, but we got such a stunning landscape for several hours before the sun popped out. I think frozen fog is one of my favorite weather events because of the beauty it leaves behind. Ice storms that coat everything and leave the world looking like a crystal play land ranks right up there in beauty, but those are so rarely not dangerous and damaging.

Yes, these weather phenomena are really beautiful but quite often dangerous and/or damaging. Perhaps thatβs one of the things that make them dangerous – the idea that something so lovely canβt be anything but benign.

Thank you. π It IS cold, but if you water the right clothes, the cold is rather, well, it just is. π

Hummm. I donβt really water my clothes unless they are in the wash. Autocorrect is always interesting. π
