Harebells are lovely light-blue/purplish bell-shaped flowers that are found everywhere on this continent but grow easily in the north because they like cooler temperatures.
A field of them makes a lovely green and blue carpet – a relaxing and comforting sight. π

You’re welcome, Jill. A little colour for your day, although if I remember correctly, you have a terrific back yard. I hope your writing is going well. π

I’ve been watching for a field of these but so far this year, no luck. I am now in the Okanagan Valley of BC and am unlikely to find a field of them here as it’s too hot.

You like that light, purplish-blue? I also find the blue spectrum to be soothing and relaxing. I have a couple of blue/green ocean water-colour paintings that are very calming.

Me too! I’m all about color theory. I seem to have a thing with colors and emotions being equal in my brain. π It’s like … seeing emotions and feeling colors, lol.

Theyβre very pretty. I donβt think Iβve seen harebells on my Canadian travels, but we have a related species here in the UK called the clustered bellflower. Itβs not widespread, but you can find it in meadows that are growing on chalk or limestone.

Harebells tend to grow well in more northerly areas because they like the cooler temps. The bellflower grows everywhere here and is considered to be a weed, but I had some in the garden of my last house and let them be. I thought they were quite pretty.

Purple is my favourite flower colour and we’ve just bought a variety of harebell for our garden. Beautiful. π
