To say that we have had a lot of rain this month would be something of an understatement, but at least we didn’t get the flooding that much of the coast unfortunately experienced. And aside from that, it also had its moments.

Happy Wednesday.

Merry Christmas Lynette. Thanks for the beautiful serene photos. I love the napping duck!

Have a lovely Christmas. Beautiful photos. I especially like the 2nd photo down and the one that has the pinkness to it.

Beautiful photos as always, Lynette! How can the ducks float on that cold water! The seventh photo down amazes me, I can imagine standing there three thousand years ago. I bet it still looked the same!

Thank you very much, John. The water wasn’t all that cold at that point but I have seen them swimming in water that has ice around the edges! Their feathers really insulate them and their feet don’t seem to get cold! Agreed, that scene probably looked very similar even then.
Season’s Greetings to you and yours John and all the best for 2026. 🎄

As usual your photos are gorgeous. I talked to my brother today and they have had a lot of rain in northern Sweden, well by the coast. There is no snow despite being pretty close to the arctic circle. It is dark and cold and rainy but no snow.A snowless Christmas in northern Sweden is pretty weird, especially considering the darkness. Anyway, I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas.

Thank you very much, Thomas. Season’s Greetings to you and your family. 🎄That is extremely odd but not surprising really given how strange our weather patterns are starting to become. Northern Canada is experiencing normal winter weather this year with lots of snow, cold and dark.
The winter rain is very normal for this valley; it’s protected by a thick layer of winter cloud – sort of like a cork in a bottle – which is why we can grow wine grapes, peaches and even lemons and avocados. But that’s also why it’s usually so very grey here in winter, though.

That is very interesting. As I think I mentioned before growing wine grapes, peaches lemons and avocados isn’t what I associate with Canada but I know now that your region is special and I remember the photos of palm trees from your area.

Oh yes, that’s right (I remember now); we comment-chatted about this before. The avocados are experimental still but there are micro-areas where lemons are doing well as long as they’re protected to some extent. Cheers.
