Even at this time of year, there are still many of nature’s artistic endeavours to be seen. Come walk with me.

Mountain snow with blue sky; a skier’s paradise.

Some beautifully green bamboo; such a lovely surprise to see it now that all the leaves are gone.

Feathery pine needles decorate the earth.

More welcome green: bistorta affinis or fleece flower.

I like this leaf and pine needle motif quite a lot and in a post from a couple of weeks back I included a similar picture.

A birch tree that’s very reluctant to give up its leaves is a pleasant yellowy December sight.

A reflection to reflect upon.

These quackers had found something good to eat and were busily getting their fill. They were murmuring quietly to each other and really seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Leaf shadows on a sidewalk. I love the pattern they left behind after the sweeper had been through.
Happy Monday; happy walkings.
A gorgeous landscape photo and the plants are beautiful too. I assume the quackers are mallard ducks.

Thank you very much, Thomas. Yes, the quackers are mallard ducks. It’s an affectionate local name for them as they don’t migrate and are considered to more or less be community pets. Cheers.

I love your lingering autumn images Lynette. Colour and patterns are still there. We only have to stop and look. A little more bleak here and headed into the deep freeze, so maybe, we won’t linger too long. Happy Monday. Allan

Thank you for your lovely comments, Allan. Yes, we’re lucky to not have snow everywhere or minus-something temperatures. It was about +6 last week when I took these. Here at the valley floor we are still fortunately well above zero. “Headed into the deep freeze” – burr. 🥶 But at least you’ve had lots of spring this year! Cheers.

I enjoyed walking along, so much to enjoy all around you there 😊. I particularly liked your photos of the leaves and pine needles and the leaf shadows!

Thank you very much. 😊 I like those pictures too and took many of them from a lot of different angles. We are very fortunate to be escaping the snow and minus-something temperatures all around us. Only about 150 metres above us there’s a ton of snow. It may be grey, but it’s +9 today! Cheers.

What a beautiful reminder that nature never stops creating, even in the quietest seasons.
Your walk feels like a meditation—every leaf, reflection, and whispering duck fully alive.
Loved this journey; I’d be honored if you took a stroll through my blog too

I’m glad you enjoyed it. Nature is definitely a constant work in progress, even when it seems dormant. My walks are meant to be relaxing as well as healthful, a departure from all the terrible and greedy noises some of the world’s so-called leaders make. I have been stopping by.

Your thoughts carry the same calm that nature offers. Nature keeps evolving even when it seems still—just like true inner peace. Your walk isn’t only for physical health but for the soul as well. And in a world filled with noisy, greedy leaders, nature’s silence becomes the most powerful answer. Sometimes, staying where you are is also a form of moving forward.

Yes, I definitely agree. 😊

That’s beautifully said. Nature keeps moving forward even in its quiet moments, reminding us that growth doesn’t need noise. Your walk feels like an act of care—for both body and spirit—especially in contrast to the greed and ugliness we’re often forced to hear. Sometimes, staying right here is the wisest choice

Thank you very much, Hary. I agree. Our weary world could do with a lot more nature.

Splendid photos! Your fresh eye is a joy. I esp. like the feathery pine needles (even more than in the combo with leaves), the reflection, and the leaf shadows on the sidewalk. Request: pls tell us about that stone pier out into the lake: it looks lovely, and it does what? (Apart from looking lovely.)

Thank you very much, Penny. The leaf shadows on the sidewalk is probably my favourite photo from this group. I love how the leaves are gone but also sort of still here. The stone pier is actually a breakwater guarding the entrance to the marina. I love to try to catch the flashing beacon when it’s lit. Here’s one photo I posted recently. https://lynettedartycross.com/2025/11/19/photo-medley/
Cheers.

Lovely captures. A reminder that there is still so much beauty around us, even if things are past their prime.

Thank you very much, Linda. We have to take the time to look and that can be very hard to do when we lead such busy lives.

All of your photos are wonderful, particularly the leaf shadows. There’s beauty to be found in many things, If we just take the time to look.
