We’ve had a lot of rain – and wind, especially – lately, so it was fantastic when the wind started to die off and the skies began to clear.

Our autumn weather has been definitely interesting; most of September was hot and windy with daily temperatures around 35 or so (95F) but then it suddenly turned and became rainy and windy!

Although we’ve had the odd day or two of good weather, the wind and rain have really dominated … did I mention the wind? 😉

However, we are supposed to be entering a stretch of sunny, windless days with temperatures around 13 or 14 (55-57F); very comfortable for November!

I was very happy to go out for my ramble to see the sky clearing … and joy of joys! No wind!

Happy weekend.
Lovely photos!

Gorgeous photos as usual, Lynette. The sky is a source of endless fascination to me (except when it is solid grey!)

Thank you very much. 😊 We’ve unfortunately had lots of grey lately. Ugh. I was very happy to see the sky clearing and then to hear that we might have several sunny days in a row. Fingers crossed!

It sure does Jo and it always feels so good too to see the sky clearing after a prolonged bout of rain.

We had so much wind in Colorado! Even when there were wind advisories here this week it was nothing like Colorado gets! Glad you’re enjoying nicer days now. Beautiful shots, especially the last one!

Thank you very much, Laura. It seems that many places are getting lots more wind than usual. The mountainous terrain in Colorado helps to intensely funnel wind quite a lot, though.

Beautiful pictures. Love the lighting of the sun and how it illuminates the clouds. Enjoy the warmer and calmer weather!

Thank you very much, Linda. I liked that effect, too. I stood watching the sky for quite a while just enjoying the interplay of sun and cloud. I am definitely enjoying the calmer weather!

Well, if your area was in drought conditions this should have negated that!

We did have a drought in 2023 – a bad one along with major fires, but the last couple of years have been fine. It took about 18 months for the water table to rise again, though.

I’m glad the water table came back up!

Thank you, Allan. It feels like we’re finally getting some good autumn weather; we’re not in an oven or a wind storm! Cheers.

I love the contrast in these pictures – so dramatic. Did you have a post a while back talking about all the wind and the danger of getting into your car? Maybe that was another blogger, my memory is failing me—haha! Hope you are doing well, Lynette. Happy weekend!

Thank you very much, Barbara. I did a post in 2024 about the windy conditions in Iceland and worrying about the rental car door being ripped off – that can actually happen there and tourists are warned about it. So no, your memory isn’t failing you – I would say it’s pretty good! Happy weekend to you, too. 😊

35 Centigrades is a hot September. It was similar here in north Texas and then it turned cooler at the end of October. The photos are beautiful as usual. Have a happy weekend you too.

Thank you very much, Thomas. Yes, it definitely was an unusual September. It feels a lot like we might be getting better autumn weather only now. Cheers.

Dark leaves and trees, add an alternative to the beauty of the sky. Both the sky and trees win.

I agree, Geoff. I loved the quality of the light and the trees framed the sky so well. Cheers.
