Vignettes of Day’s End

The sun goes down over a very hot Okanagan Valley …

… while a duck cools off near a pond …

… as it’s cooler there …

… rather than near the sleepy creek …

… everything ready to relax into night’s enfolding and refreshing respite.

Happy Wednesday.

      1. I’m in SoCal, near the ocean (but also the Ports of Long Beach & Los Angeles, so the water is ICK), which is usually great but it has been grossly humid this summer. Right now it’s about 80F inside my house with 84% humidity. I’m nekked and still overheated… apparently lost my ability to regulate body temp about a year ago. Which is a long way of saying U wanna be in that creek NOW.

        1. Humidity can be so awful. Here at least it’s been dry. I’ve heard quite a few people talk about how their internal temperature regulation has declined as they have aged, so it might be somewhat common. Common or not, it’s definitely not great. I hear you about the creek, but the lakes here are great for swimming, too. I hope your humidity dissipates soon.

    1. It would depend on the airline, your departure/arrival city and how far out you book your tickets, but a rough guess would be about $1200.00 CAN for one ticket Frankfurt-Vancouver. It’s otherwise relatively inexpensive to holiday here since the exchange between the CAN dollar and the Euro is very favourable for Europeans right now. Cheers.

  1. It looks like everyone is just hiding out in the shade. How low do the night time temps go down at this time of year Lynette? We set a record here yesterday at 32.2 (normal is 22 for this time of year) and it is already 17 this morning. Have a cool day. Allan

    1. The parks and beaches are now quite busy in the evenings when everything has cooled off a bit. Our lows have been 18 very consistently for the last week. By 8 a.m. we’re looking at 21 or 22 already. Wow – 32.2! That’s not a surprise though as this system is huge and hot and stretching up and down the coast as well as all the way to Yellowknife where highs are 26 and 27 but should only be about 18. Cooler temperatures were projected for the weekend but those have been revised up to the 30s again. Thanks Allan. You have a cool day, too. Cheers.

    1. That sounds wonderful, Linda! I saw that you have cooling weather and really wish we were experiencing the same. Yesterday we had 24 by 8:00 and 32 by about noon. I would love to be wearing a sweater for my morning walk.

    1. We had a reprieve today from the mid-30s because it was cloudy and only 24 as a result, but we’re supposed to go back up to the mid-30s again for the weekend. Yes, water is the place to be for sure. You’re dropping to 19 very suddenly! Wow.
