This particular hydrangea shrub is huge – about 3m tall – and loaded with blooms. It has one very tall one sticking up though which makes it look a bit gangly but adorable, somehow.
They are so wonderfully showy. 😊 Hydrangeas will bloom here to the end of September/beginning of October with the panicle and lacecap types always blooming more toward the end of the season. I’m surprised to see panicle hydrangeas this early but then again with climate change I think we’re seeing lots of unusual plant reactions.
There are so many types of hydrangeas; about 50 or more, I think. They’re very adaptable as long as it doesn’t get too cold in winter – although there are hardy types, too – so maybe you could try planting a panicle if you have a garden with room for one. This particular shrub is so tall, showy and pretty. Cheers.
Oh wow that is quite the spectacle.

I’ll go out on a limb and say it’s the best flower tree I’ve ever seen. 🙂 Cheers!

It’s technically a shrub but at 3 metres (10 ft) tall, the word “tree” fits much better. 😊

My ‘Vanille fraise’ is going through the vanilla phase right now and it is looking lovely, soon it will start changing to the raspberry pink stage.

I love those. The one pictured is also a vanille fraise. By mid-August last year the blooms had turned the prettiest pink shade. So lovely.

They are panicle hydrangeas, specifically the “vanille fraise” type. They will eventually change from the creamy colour shown to pink.
