The blue hour is a period of blue light that colours the sky in the morning or evening either just before the sun has appeared or well after it has disappeared below the horizon. The remaining light can take on a very intense and beautiful shade of indigo.

The blue hour above …

… and below.
Happy Thursday.

Nice to see the blue hour Lynette. It has only been the grey day here from a ton of wildfire smoke 10+ most of yesterday. Rain is predicted, so hope the blue returns soon. Happy Thursday. Allan

Thanks, Allan. I certainly understand. I have experienced the same here, believe me, and am so sad over it too since so much environmental damage is happening. Yes, I heard that you’re supposed to get some rain and I really hope you do, a beautiful soaker that puts out these terrible fires.

Beautiful. That shade of blue should have its own name, really (maybe it has but I just don’t know it!).

I love that colour, too. I refer to it as indigo blue, beautifully dark and inky. Cheers.

L’Heure Bleue is also a very nice perfume. I know it’s not cool to wear perfumes anymore but I still like the fragrance. And now it has even more meaning with the blue twilight hours. Nice photos.

Thank you very much, Anneli. That perfume has been around for many years, I think. Very floral and romantic, I believe? Perfume is out of style? I didn’t know! I wear a small amount quite often (although never to work).

I love the fragrances, but somehow it is frowned on these days. When you are going down a grocery store aisle and you can smell someone in the next aisle, and you know it is coming out of her pores … if you don’t know that person, you suddenly DO know a lot about her. I see signs everywhere (saw one this morning) – “scent-free area.”

Agreed! If you can smell someone in the next aisle in the grocery store then that’s waaay too much! I have encountered men who wear too much after-shave, also. Yes, I have seen the “scent-free area” signs too, but I wonder about all the fragrances added to detergents, softeners, shampoos, deodorants, etc. It’s difficult to get away from those (and I can often smell them) so I think that perfumes have been to some extent unfairly targeted.

I agree. I’m glad I’m not in the perfume industry. They must have had a setback when the scent-free trend came in.
