They definitely do although I lately learned that in the case of the extraordinary colours – blues and lime greens for instance – they have been spray painted! I prefer them in shades of red, pink and cream, but these painted poinsettias are apparently quite popular.
Because poinsettias go into dormancy soon after they bloom, and they’re forced to bloom exactly for the Christmas market, they all look like they’re dying by the end of January or even earlier. My mother was quite a gardener who liked to experiment with them and had some success with letting them go dormant and then coaxing them to bloom again by evening out their hours of daylight and darkness (12 and 12). She had a greenhouse and all the tools though while most of us don’t! They can be a lot of work in the sense that you have to watch the timing with them but you can get them to bloom again. Cheers.
Yes, today had to be poinsettias for sure! I unfortunately don’t have any pets right now but we’re thinking of a dog after we slow down our travel. Thanks for the reminder about poinsettias and pets.
Our dogs have all been rescues (except one) coming from difficult backgrounds, so I don’t like to leave them unless it’s with a family member or friend they know well. In the meantime we like to dogsit when we can. 😊
Don’t they come in fabulous colours now?

I do, too, Linda, although not the painted ones (blue and lime green for instance).

Agreed. A flower doesn’t need to (and shouldn’t) be painted.

Love these plants, although I could never keep them alive for long after Christmas. Happy Friday Lynette. Allan

It had to be poinsettias for this Friday. Very Christmassy. Remember not to let your pets nibble their leaves.

Pets sure do keep you from traveling, or at least they make you accommodate them in your travel plans.
