I agree, Linda. I’ve only shown a few of the ones that we have nearby; there are so many more of them! I agree about the sugar maples. I’m not a fan of maple syrup, but I sure like the trees!
They are, aren’t they? I had to look up the Turkish/Asian maple because I hadn’t seen one before. I was sure it was some kind of maple but I wanted to make sure. Cheers.
We enjoy the maples on the East and West coast. There are so few in Alberta. Walking through West End Van these days, leaf raking and removal seems an endless chore, with many leaves the size of dinner plates. The best way to enjoy it is watching other people rake. Happy Thursday Lynette. Allan
Thanks, Allan. If you’re interested, a friend who lives in Medicine Hat planted a Manitoba maple (Red River maple) about 10 years ago. It has grown quickly and is very hardy. It also turns a beautiful light red in autumn. It should do well in your area, too, as they grow far up into northern Manitoba.
Yes, the leaf sizes from some of these trees are huge; the Penticton city gardeners have been really busy with raking, pruning and mulching. I agree, watching someone else is best!
Canada has ten species of maple, including the famous sugar maple that produces syrup. I’ve only shown four different types here; just the ones that are close by. I love maples. Beautiful shade trees in summer and brilliant foliage in the autumn. Cheers. 🍁
You have every variation of maple leaf colours. Soon they’ll be gone, but for now, we can enjoy the rainbow colours of maple leaves. I felt a real chill in the air this morning so I know that time is coming.
Aren’t they gorgeous? And yes, they have to be enjoyed right now before the leaves are gone. I’ve noticed a chill in the wind, too, but we still haven’t gone below about 5C at night. You and I both know where it’s colder – glad we’re not there!
How do you know the names of so many types of trees? Gorgeous colors. I’ll have to live through your pics. Just when ours turned here, it got windy and they all blew away. 😕
So sorry to hear that you lost yours after you patiently waited to enjoy them, Lori. I grew up with lots of maples (there are 10 varieties in Canada; probably most of these are common in your area, too) and learned to recognise them from my gardener mother. I had to look up the Asian/Turkish variety as I hadn’t seen it before. Maples are such great trees. Beautiful shade trees in summer and then in autumn they turn such fantastic colours! Cheers. 🍁
They are beautiful.

We definitely are. We still have lots of trees that haven’t turned yet, so we’ll be able to enjoy the colours for a while yet.

I like the subtle colour and detail of the Turkish/Asian Maple, as well as the vibrancy of the other maples 😊.

That maple is so pretty with its pink leaves. I hadn’t seen one of these before and had to look it up. Maples are probably my favourites. Cheers. 😊

It’s amazing how the leaves turn different shades of colour depending on the variety. The sugar maples are one of my favourites.

We have an Amur maple with smaller red leaves. Also no room for more trees in the yard but thanks for the suggestion.
