The ginkgo biloba trees turn a lovely yellow in autumn.

Their fan-shaped leaves are beautiful, either in green or yellow.

They usually assume their golden hue very suddenly, almost overnight, and then the leaves fall quickly, too.

When they change colour they have to be enjoyed in the moment; there’s definitely no waiting!
Happy Wednesday.
We have been loving the gingkos in Vancouver. Such beautiful leaves in colour and shape. Happy Wednesday Lynette. Allan

Thanks, Allan. They’re very pretty. This one turned yellow and dropped its leaves in about five days, so you have to be quick about admiring their year-end colour!

We don’t have many of these trees in Ontario. They look so pretty, especially when the leaves have turned yellow.

Sorry for the late reply, Linda. I somehow forgot to respond! I find these trees and their leaf shape very attractive. They apparently will grow in the most southern parts of Ontario, so depending on where you are, they might work for you. Cheers.

Those leaves are quite unusual. They look almost as if they can’t decide whether they’re petals or leaves.

Yes, that’s a good way of describing them, Stuart. Ginkgos are very old; their leaves are part of the fossil record, so in some quarters they are referred to as “living fossils.”

Although they’re not my favorite tree, I can appreciate their lovely autumn color.

What I like about them best is their leaf shape, so frilly and ruffled. They look really pretty in the wind. Cheers.
