A recent hike on the KVR Trail above Okanagan Lake produced these autumnal sights.

This rain squall on the other side of the lake did reach us, but we were back in the car by then.

The sun peeks through cloud as the valley continues to don its autumn garb. In the meantime, the mountains across the lake choose a seasonal blue.
Happy Tuesday.

I often like cloudy days. Except when I’m in the mood to see a sunset.

We actually got both on that day. The rain showers in the afternoon and then a beautiful sunset once it had cleared.

Always interesting to see the weather develop across a lake. Not looking like summer anymore Lynette. Happy Tuesday. Allan

That little squall moved across the lake at a good clip. We were almost at the trail head when we saw it about mid-way on the lake and just made to the car before the downpour started! Agreed – it definitely doesn’t look like summer any more!

It’s getting there.

It is! We have a lot of fully green, leafed trees, so lots of colour is still on the way.

Thanks, Lori. 😊 It was quite a downpour so we were glad we made it back to the car!

Everything looks so peaceful on the valley floor, so nicely contrasted with the sky overhead! Terrific photos, Lynette 😊

Thank you very much, Belinda. We had some very variable weather that day, both sun and rain squalls. I liked the contrast between the light and dark, too.

That rain squall is wonderful! this was before we got hit with the atmospheric river, I take it?

Hi Penny, that rain squall happened afterwards, but the Okanagan wasn’t affected much by the atmospheric river. We were on the edge of it so we didn’t get the intense rain that occurred almost everywhere else.
I very much enjoy the weather patterns here, especially the cloud formations and contrasts between light and dark. So beautiful. Cheers.

Love the moodiness in your pictures. It’s kind of cool that you were able to see the squall coming in across the lake. Glad to hear you made it back to your car before the rain.

Thank you very much, Linda. The views from up there are beautiful but yes, watching that squall heading our way definitely got us moving. It dumped a lot of rain, so we were happy to make it to the car!
