Still Sailing

Some stormy weather has been passing through our area, but in between these events the temperatures and weather have been good, so good that there’s still lots of sailing happening.

The marina remains open year-round as many people still sail regardless of colder conditions, something I would probably also do if I owned a sailboat.

There’s usually something very attractive about sailboats on blue water, no matter the season.

Happy Monday.

    1. We had the tail end of that storm overnight here in Penticton with a gigantic rainfall, but it’s calm and clearing today. Yes, the sailors must really enjoy some of the lovely autumn weather when we get it. Enjoy Vancouver – the weather should calm down soon. Cheers.

  1. I’m always so amazed at how sailboats are able to weather the storms. I’m not sure how much sleep I’d get with such choppy conditions. But there is definitely something appealing to being on the water.

    1. I used to sail (I’m not a great sailor but competent) but gave it up after a bad experience on Lake Ontario. Ripped the mainsail in a storm at night, lost my electrical and limped into Kingston harbour the next day. I felt that my capabilities weren’t up to those conditions and I was lucky to get back. I’ve since admired them from shore, so yes, I still find them appealing even after that. They’re so beautiful. I never slept particularly well on board even at a calm anchor.
