October 4’s Friday Fleurday

There are many autumn colours right now, but also lots of summer pinks still. Here’s a sample.

Hydrangea
Cinquefoil
Japanese anemones
Chrysanthemums
Alpine rose
Hydrangea

The hardy hydrangeas and chrysanthemums are continuing to do well while many of the other pink species are starting to fade. Pretty great for October, though. 🌸

  1. What a pretty fall display Lynette. The hydrangeas look just like the one in my front border. When I Googled how to protect them over winter, it said to mulch with oak leaves. No problem, I have an oak tree and am relocating the leaves as they fall. Will see how all that works. There has still not been a real frost here, one month after the usual date for frost. A bit concerning. Thanks for the morning colour. Happy Friday.

    1. Thank you very much, Allan. Yes, they would need mulching in your zone, I believe, but then again, if you haven’t had frost yet, they might be okay without it! (Actually, I wouldn’t do that – I’m just being sarcastic about climate change, specifically those who are trying to pretend that it doesn’t exist, ie the jackass here who’s running for premier. Ugh. I’m already tired of all this politicking and there’s so much more of it to come. Yuck) Actually, I agree, it is concerning. All that raking will definitely earn you a cocktail and a good dinner, though!
