Signs of Autumn

It has been cooler over the last few days, with highs around 20C (68F) or so. It has been a nice break from months of high temperatures. But there’s been some wind, too, and it has a decidedly autumnal feel to it. There were even wind-driven whitecaps on the lake.

Temperatures are supposed to go back to 29-30C (84-86F) by Thursday or Friday and those might be our last warm days before the descent into autumn.

Although it was cooler and the wind was definitely brisk, there were a few people still taking pleasure from the beach. Seated in lawn chairs and wearing light jackets, the weather wasn’t going to stop them from enjoying the views over the lake.

Happy Wednesday.

  1. Isn’t it funny how a July 30 and an August 30 just feel different. August 30 feels more like 25. Nice here yesterday, then a fair bit of rain. More rain all day and a high of 15. Time to bake bread and pizza. Happy Wednesday Lynette. Allan

    1. That’s so true, although today we were back up and are expecting low 30s for the weekend. Autumn has been banished, at least for a bit, but those indisputable signs will arrive at some time, without fail, and with much more staying power. Getting more rain isn’t a bad thing at all; I hope the fires are getting some good amounts. Enjoy your bread and pizza. Homemade – yummy!

    1. M has said that here, September is the best month ever, and it’s hard to argue with that. The temperatures are so great and the weather is calm and lovely. Like you, I just can’t handle those high temperatures any more. Cheers.

    1. I didn’t either, Maggie. As I get older, I’m just not coping with it as well as I used to, but agreed, I’m not ready for autumn. We’re supposed to get low 30s temperatures for the next week or so, so it won’t be arriving for a bit now, anyway.

    1. Our cooldown has ended as our temperatures were back up today and then we’ll be climbing into the low 30s for the long weekend and beyond, actually. Those few cool days were such a great little break, though. When I saw the whitecaps I thought, yup, autumn is arriving soon, but I turned out to be wrong! 🤷

  2. Cooler here today with rain – why does it wait until harvest to rain?? But climbing back to high 20s on the weekend. We were at the lake on the weekend, and the whitecaps were huge. Great for windsurfing but not boating.
