It has been cooler over the last few days, with highs around 20C (68F) or so. It has been a nice break from months of high temperatures. But there’s been some wind, too, and it has a decidedly autumnal feel to it. There were even wind-driven whitecaps on the lake.

Temperatures are supposed to go back to 29-30C (84-86F) by Thursday or Friday and those might be our last warm days before the descent into autumn.

Although it was cooler and the wind was definitely brisk, there were a few people still taking pleasure from the beach. Seated in lawn chairs and wearing light jackets, the weather wasn’t going to stop them from enjoying the views over the lake.
Happy Wednesday.
More or less same feelings here in Finland. Temps are slightly lower, though. Autumn is approaching. Happy Wednesday!

Thank you. 😊 I spoke too soon since our temps were back up today and any sign of autumn has been banished, temporarily, anyway. It will arrive at some point, though!

Isn’t it funny how a July 30 and an August 30 just feel different. August 30 feels more like 25. Nice here yesterday, then a fair bit of rain. More rain all day and a high of 15. Time to bake bread and pizza. Happy Wednesday Lynette. Allan

That’s so true, although today we were back up and are expecting low 30s for the weekend. Autumn has been banished, at least for a bit, but those indisputable signs will arrive at some time, without fail, and with much more staying power. Getting more rain isn’t a bad thing at all; I hope the fires are getting some good amounts. Enjoy your bread and pizza. Homemade – yummy!

M has said that here, September is the best month ever, and it’s hard to argue with that. The temperatures are so great and the weather is calm and lovely. Like you, I just can’t handle those high temperatures any more. Cheers.

We always seem to cling to the last bits of the departing season, even while eagerly welcoming the next. Happy Wednesday Lynette!

Thank you. 😊 That’s so true, Tricia. I love summer but hate to say good-bye to it even when I’m happy to welcome the cooler, more invigorating temperatures and the beautiful colours. Cheers.

I did not love the high heat this summer, but I’m still not quite ready for fall.

I didn’t either, Maggie. As I get older, I’m just not coping with it as well as I used to, but agreed, I’m not ready for autumn. We’re supposed to get low 30s temperatures for the next week or so, so it won’t be arriving for a bit now, anyway.

Same here. It was only 10 degrees today!!! But 30 by Sunday, so we’re fighting it off 🙂

Wow! 10! That’s quite cool. I hope you enjoy the long weekend and the 30° is mitigated a bit by a fresh breeze. 😊

These are great photos. I love the white foamy stuff, just like the ocean.

We don’t see whitecaps on that lake very often, but sometimes the wind blows straight down the valley and can whip up the water quite well!

Whitecaps, that is chilly! Pretty though. We’re enjoying a cool down as well. I’m sure there’s more heat to come though.

Our cooldown has ended as our temperatures were back up today and then we’ll be climbing into the low 30s for the long weekend and beyond, actually. Those few cool days were such a great little break, though. When I saw the whitecaps I thought, yup, autumn is arriving soon, but I turned out to be wrong! 🤷

When winter comes we’ll look back on the summer heat a bit more kindly 😊

Yes, good point! I’ll definitely be whining about the cold and wishing for spring. 😉

Cooler here today with rain – why does it wait until harvest to rain?? But climbing back to high 20s on the weekend. We were at the lake on the weekend, and the whitecaps were huge. Great for windsurfing but not boating.

Yes, excellent question! We had a lovely day today but the long weekend will be low 30s lasting for about the next two weeks. Agreed; windsurfing works but not boating.
