Amazing what grows in the rain forest Lynette. There is always something to see. Amidst all that green, bright colours become even more prominent. Happy Tuesday. Allan

Thank you, Allan. They sure do. We spotted one of the honeysuckle bushes from quite a distance. Exploring a rainforest is such an interesting experience. Cheers.

What a great forest, you’ve picked out fascinating features. Those mushrooms look almost blue! Maggie

Thank you very much, Maggie. Yes, they do! Very interesting shape and colour, for sure. We enjoyed our time exploring there.

That Fungi is a Bracket Fungi Lynette. Typical in a Rainforest environment.

Thanks for that information, Wayne. Much appreciated. I’ve looked them up and see that they are actually fungi, not really mushrooms, and that some of them are edible if cooked.

What a wonderful group of photos, Lynette! The colours are so vibrant. I love your term “nursery log “😊

Thank you very much, Belinda. 😊 Actually, that’s the term (more correctly, “nurse logs,” but I think “nursery” is a bit more accurate) for fallen logs that provide nutrients for new trees, so I didn’t invent it. I maybe read about nursery logs here:

Yes, Tofino Photography has it right. It’s bracket fungi. Is that last photo taken on the Tow Hill Road?

Thanks to both you and Wayne from Tofino Photography for providing the name of these interesting fungi. I’ve looked them up and know more about them now. Yes, that’s the road to Tow Hill. The forest definitely has a lot of character going on!

I always like how it was like going through a tunnel on Tow Hill Road. Nice photo.

Absolutely; rain forests are so interesting. Your final photo does look like the forbidden forest in Harry Potter. Beautiful photos Lynette!

I’m not a fan of the rain, but I don’t seem to mind it when I’m in the rainforest. Probably because it’s beautiful, as shown by your lovely pictures.

We didn’t really get a lot of rain, but certainly a lot of mist and the humidity was quite high (but cooler; I wasn’t really bothered by it). Agreed – the rain makes the rainforest, and it’s beautiful.

I’m thinking of heading to the jungle for my honeymoon. It appears to be an ideal location for recharging your mind and spirit while also breathing fresh air. We just need to avoid all the toxic animals, I assume lol

Hi Four Steps, congratulations on your wedding. 😊 Haida Gwaii has rainforests, not jungles (jungles have dense vegetation at the ground level while rainforests have dense vegetation at the tree tops). There are bears, in fact there is a rare species of bear found nowhere else, but otherwise, dangerous animals aren’t a feature of Haida Gwaii. It would definitely be an ideal place to honeymoon. Very quiet, lots of fresh air, beautiful sand beaches and hiking trails. Good luck with your planning.
