I chatter over stony ways,
In little sharps and trebles,
I bubble into eddying bays,
I babble on the pebbles.
I chatter, chatter, as I flow
To join the brimming river,
For men may come and men may go,
But I go on forever.
~ from The Brook, by Alfred, Lord Tennyson
A good place to sit and ponder and a great poem by Tennyson. Happy Wednesday Lynette. Allan

Thanks, Allan. We had a lovely walk along this brook and it kept reminding me of a poem (and of course I couldn’t remember the name, having now reached the age where names like to hover in a corner of my brain under a blanket). I finally did a search and found it. It was such a lovely temperature and very few bugs at all. It was beautiful walking there.
Keeping my fingers crossed for Jasper, Allan. I hope that fire is at the very least brought under control soon.

The babbling brook and the poem were both perfect Lynette.
As to Jasper, both fires are getting closer to Jasper town. The good news is that the heat has moved on for a few days, but winds are picking up and there is a possibility of more severe weather tonight. The larger South fire was started by a lightening strike. Hoping for substantial rain. Allan

Love that poem and pic. Creeks and brooks are my favorite thing to visit. In fact, I just came from walking the dog near one when we ran into three large deer. Tre and I were just as shocked to see them as they were to see us. We all stood staring at each other for a moment. As soon as my shock waned, and I went to grab my camera phone, they ran off. Don’t know why I told you that, but it just happened before I got online and visited your blog. Thanks for sharing the pic and poem.

Thank you very much for relating your deer encounter. I love that story and have experienced something similar at times. Surprising each other and then the wonder of seeing them up close like that. Lovely. Glad you like the picture and poem excerpt. We had a long walk there; it was so pretty. Aren’t they especially great to visit during the height of summer? 😊

Thank you very much, Anneli. 😉 As we were walking along the brook, I had a poem floating in my head but couldn’t quite remember it or the title. I had to look it up. Cheers.

Thank you very much, Linda. As we were walking there I kept thinking that I knew a poem about a brook. When we got back, I looked it up. It’s such a pretty and tranquil “babbling brook!”
