Beautiful North Beach, Haida Gwaii

North Beach on Haida Gwaii is incredibly beautiful. We went for long, long walks and saw many more bald eagles than people.

A juvenile bald eagle looking for snacks at the ocean’s edge.
Beach grass.
In the distance, Tow Hill, an outcropping of volcanic rock at the shoreline.

Although it was an overcast day, the temperature was very comfortable, especially as it was around 38 C (100 F) at home!

    1. Yes, we saw more bald eagles than people! When we walked a further stretch of that beach the next day, we saw some 20-somethings taking a dip in the water – that water has to be very cold – but they were the only others we saw.

    1. It was scorching at home! It topped out at 41, so I’m glad I missed that part. This beach is stunning, Linda. We walked the other half of it the next day and saw four other people then but that was it. We literally saw many more bald eagles than people!

        1. It’s well worth a visit, Linda. Lots of places to walk/hike and camp and not very buggy at all. We were able to go without bug jackets or sprays. And it’s so quiet! Cheers.
