North Beach on Haida Gwaii is incredibly beautiful. We went for long, long walks and saw many more bald eagles than people.

Although it was an overcast day, the temperature was very comfortable, especially as it was around 38 C (100 F) at home!

Gorgeous photos Lynette; I particularly like the second one titled “Beach Grass”. It could be a travel poster for that part of Canada; spectacular!

Thank you very much, Tricia! 😊 There is a lot of tough beach grass except where the rain forest comes right down to the sand! It’s definitely representative of this area, though.

I can see why this place is revered by the Haida. It is well worth visiting. Thanks for sharing Lynette. Allan

You’re welcome. It’s awesome, Allan. There is such a sense of timelessness and of how small we really are.

Thank you very much, Ally! I’ve never before seen such expanses of beach without people in sight. Lots of birds and animals, though.

Looks so pristine and untouched by man’s greedy hands.

There aren’t a lot of people around so it is quite untouched in many ways, especially when it comes to the number of animals.

Thank you very much, Belinda. 😊 I agree that overcast days can produce good photos, not just provide atmosphere.

Yes, we saw more bald eagles than people! When we walked a further stretch of that beach the next day, we saw some 20-somethings taking a dip in the water – that water has to be very cold – but they were the only others we saw.

What a beautiful beach. Even though it was overcast, this sounds like a much better way to spend your day than if you were back home in the heat!

It was scorching at home! It topped out at 41, so I’m glad I missed that part. This beach is stunning, Linda. We walked the other half of it the next day and saw four other people then but that was it. We literally saw many more bald eagles than people!

It’s well worth a visit, Linda. Lots of places to walk/hike and camp and not very buggy at all. We were able to go without bug jackets or sprays. And it’s so quiet! Cheers.
