Sailing

Most of British Columbia is experiencing a heat wave right now. Temperatures are in the high 30s celsius (about 100F) and people are looking to cool off however they can. As you can imagine, the beaches and lakes are very popular!

I spotted this sail boat among many on Okanagan Lake and thought how perfectly positioned it was to showcase an iconically sunny day white sail, blue sky and blue lake all around.

I felt cooler just looking at it, but it’s also an incredibly pretty sight.

It wasn’t very windy on the bench, but there was a breeze on the lake, and the sailboat seemed to be moving crisply along.

Happy Monday.

  1. Looks like a good place to be on a hot day Lynette. On these hot days, which we dream of all winter long, any breeze is a good breeze. When there is none, we dream of cooling winter winds. Happy Monday. Allan

    1. Thank you very much, Tricia. 😊 The Okanagan usually gets very high temperatures (38ish) for about a month around end of July and beginning of August but the coast and Vancouver Island are getting this too, and that’s not really the norm for them. We’re getting hotter temperatures earlier though. I hope your friends and family are getting through this okay. We are travelling again and now en route to Haida Gwaii off the coast of northern BC where it will be cooler. Cheers.

    1. I wanted to as well! I find that as I get older my internal temperature regulation is starting to be a little wonky. I don’t handle extremes of heat and cold as well as I used to, so I’m beginning to be one of those people who’s always hot or always cold. Ugh. 😑
