We enjoyed the Canada Day fireworks that were set off over Okanagan Lake.

Loads of boats on the lake and people in the adjacent park to see the show.

Almost everyone, young, old and in between, loves to see fireworks.

There was lots of applauding and honking of boat horns …

… and the show was enjoyed by all.

Happy Tuesday.
Lynette, belated Happy Canada Day and what a festive way to celebrate! The fireworks are beautiful and dramatic especially against the moody sky and love the idea of sitting on a boat on the lake watching them (& blowing the boat horns!)

Thank you very much, Annika! We really enjoyed them but we were on the beach, not in a boat (although I agree, that would have been great!). It was fun seeing so many out on the water and the horns contributed to the festive atmosphere. Cheers.

Ever since we welcomed the New Year in with fireworks over the Cairns harbour, we have enjoyed fireworks over water. Looks like you had a great vantage point. Happy Tuesday Lynette. Allan

Thanks, Allan. Fireworks over water is the best, in my opinion. The first time I saw that was in Reykjavik at the turn of the millennium. Cairns must have been pretty fantastic, too. We had a great vantage point directly across from the fireworks barge. Really wonderful!

Your photos are beautiful. Fireworks over bodies of water I like, fireworks shot off over the grocery store parking lot make nervous. Guess which kind we have‽

Thank you very much, Ally. 😊 Wowza. A grocery store parking lot? There isn’t a better spot available somewhere? Sorry to hear about that. We are fortunate to have a nearby body of water that’s large enough for fireworks, but I’ve seen them in river valleys and parks, too.

What a fabulous spot to watch the fireworks. I was in bed way before the fireworks began.

We used to drive to the city to see the ones here but haven’t in a few years so now I feel better because I got to see your stunning photos. I would imagine it hard to take photos of something that you have no control over the timing of so well done.

Thank you very much for your kind words, Bernie. 😊 I was kind of gauging them a bit since the interval seemed pretty consistent, but I also did a lot of burst photos, too, which ensured some good captures.
Driving to see fireworks can be a bit difficult. Challenging to find a parking spot unless you’re quite early but then you might be waiting a long time to leave, too, if others have parked behind you. Not the greatest if you have small children along and then have to drive some distance to get home. But then again, fireworks are pretty terrific and maybe worth the trouble!

I recall going to the fireworks one time on Canada Day when I was on call. This was the old days (pre cell phone) so when it went I had the police call for a taxi. While we waited for everyone to be ready to operate we headed to the roof of the hospital to watch the fireworks. Then did the case and I went home. I got home before my other half and the two very young children asleep in their car seats. He got caught in the outbound traffic and it was so snarled. We learned from that about where to park.

Wowza! That’s a long time! I bet you did learn from that. Crazy how long it can take to get out of a special event such as Canada Day fireworks.

Thank you very much. 😊 Fireworks and dogs’ sensitive ears definitely don’t mix! We used to do the same when we still had our dear dogs.
