You definitely would need a towel or blanket, but yes, reading all day, taking a dip when you get too warm and perhaps just letting your mind drift… Excellent beach activities. 😊
They are huge, and really are inland freshwater seas. Years ago (I used to sail) I was caught in a storm on Lake Ontario, no land in sight and lost all my electrical (this was before cell phones). I had to get back by sail power and dead reckoning only. Was a very strong reminder of how huge they are, and Ontario is the smallest one!
I like it when a person “takes the bull by the horns” and deals with a problem rather than wimp out and cry for help without first trying every possible thing to help him/herself.
Yes, I’ve heard about your nasty heat wave from friends who live in Toronto. I understand that the humidity is terrible. We had one last year at about this time; it was brutal. Stay cool, Linda. Maybe a beach visit on the weekend?

I see myself sitting under that tree, probably on a towel (the branches look a bit scratchy) and reading until daylight leaves.

I haven’t seen the Great Lakes, but I imagine it would be like sitting by the ocean except the water isn’t salty. They look so huge.

Yes, it was very empty. We saw a couple of others much further down the beach, but otherwise, just us.

Looks peaceful. It also makes me want to go swimming in the lake now, which would be quite lovely as we’ve been under a heat wave all week.
