Home from Iceland …

… but we brought a very unattractive souvenir with us in the form of an award-winning case of flu (we have tested negative for Covid).

I literally have every symptom and am feeling extremely miserable. M is somewhat better but also quite ill; at least we can be sick at home though.

I might not be around much over the next day or two as I recover from this nasty bug.

Happy Monday and see you soon.

  1. Lynette, poor you! Not the dreaded post holiday flu, that is the pits! Wishing you well soon and thank you for find the energy to share the photos. Wonderful moody clouds and a study of blue hues, mesmerising! Lots of rest, hot drinks and painkillers for you, now! Xx

  2. Oh boy. This is one of the reasons I don’t like to travel anymore. Keeping good thoughts for you quick and smooth recovery. Get well soon. 💗

    1. Thank you very much, Lori. 😊 I haven’t really gotten ill while travelling in many years now, but this time we were walloped. We both came down with colds early in our trip and now this flu. Travelling definitely means entering a germ-and-virus arena. I probably should have worn a mask which I saw lots of people doing or yes, staying at home is an option, too. 🌸

        1. We’re travelling again in July but I think may be staying fairly close to home for a bit after that. A great part of reading about others’ travels: great over-the shoulder views, no packing, no airport crowds!

    1. We definitely have, despite becoming ill. It has been many years since I’ve gotten sick while travelling, but this time we both were really walloped. We had colds about a week into our trip and now the flu at the end!

  3. 🎵 Oh, gather ’round, ye sailors bold, I’ll tell ye of Leif’s tale,
A Viking true, both brave and strong, who’d never known to ail.
For never once did he succumb to cold or winter’s bite,
With angelica in his hand, he faced the darkest night.

🎵 Oh, Leif the Lucky sailed the seas, his health a sturdy shield,
With angelica, the northern herb, his strength would never yield.
The Vikings knew its secret might, a cure for every ill,
A thousand years they’ve kept it close, through frost and northern chill.

🎵 From Iceland’s shores to Greenland’s land, they treasured nature’s gift,
For angelica’s healing power would every spirit lift.
And laws were writ in ancient tomes, with fines for those who’d thieve,
For stealing of this precious herb was more than men could grieve.

🎵 So let us sing of Leif the brave, who never knew defeat,
With angelica in his grasp, no cold could e’er unseat.
A chanty for the northern winds, for herbs of wondrous lore,
For Viking hearts and angelica, we’ll raise a mighty roar! 🎵

      1. Well, what the angelica won’t cure the Vikings singing chanties and dancing mazurka style is bound to cheer you into recuperation. Get well soon!
