Spring Maples

The flowery buds of the red maples are rapidly developing; it won’t be long before we have some beautiful leaves.

Their lovely flowerets look very pretty …
… especially against a bright spring sky …
… with the promise of more to come.

Happy spring.

    1. Thanks, Allan, and to you, too. I agree; at your more northern point you would need a hardier type. One of the parks here is bordered by sugar maples that are apparently over 100 years old. Sugar maples aren’t native to BC and these started as seedlings brought from Ontario, or that’s what’s thought locally. They are about 35m tall and such an elegant shape. When I stop to think about it, our national symbol is a beautiful one.

        1. Yes – very true. A couple of years back I experienced a major snowstorm right at the end of May. Heavy, wet snow and almost 0 visibility. Winter didn’t want to let go. Then last year it suddenly turned hot (for the north) in early May, 25°C. But 2023’s weather was pretty strange in many places.
