After our unusual and record-breaking Arctic blast that was quickly followed by a Pacific Ocean storm which dumped a record-breaking load of snow, it seems we are back on track. That means that we will return to our regularly scheduled rain, but in the meantime, we had a day of cloud clearing and sunny breaks accompanied by a pleasant temperature.

Happy Wednesday.
So beautiful pictures 🌹

It’s warmer here too, but with it come days of the rain…
But after days of freezing my butt off, I won’t complain!

I am in total agreement! I will take rain over Arctic blasts and snow any day. Plus, you don’t have to shovel rain from your driveway. 😊

Those shots do look chilly. Not a good day for water skiing, methinks. Glad things are warming up Lynette. We are on our way to the forest today, before it all gets too sloppy. Up to +7 next week. Happy Wednesday. Allan

Thanks, Allan.
They do look chilly but we actually had +6 and no wind, so it was a good walking day. Once we established our pace, I actually had to open my jacket. It was nice to see the sun. Today we are back to the rainy rain show, with demonstrations of low clouds and 100% overcast. We’re expecting higher temperatures too as the week goes on and maybe a bit more sun on the weekend. Enjoy your forest walk today. Cheers.

Our temps are getting warmer here, but nothing looks this pretty outside!

Yes, I’m happy to report that our temperatures are rising, and I would definitely rather deal with rain than a freezing Arctic deep freeze! I agree; this valley is pretty even in January when it’s certainly not at its best. Glad to hear that you’re warmer too. 😊

I’m glad it feels warmer. It still looks shiveringly cold!

Always so pretty where you live. We didn’t see sun for the first 18 days of January. Then we got 3 days of blinding sun reflecting off the piles of snow. Then back to clouds with no sign of sun in the near future. At least the temps are warmer and melting the snow, although there is still a LOT to melt.

Wow – no sun for 18 days! Although we may have been a close second. I didn’t count but it was at least a couple of weeks of serious overcast. Our snow is almost completely gone; we had a record snowfall for this area, but it was nothing like your amounts, it seems. January is never a good month and compared to the weather in the north (a friend reported that they had -45C or -49F; the gas lines were freezing) it’s not so bad! One of the reasons we decided to retire here is the landscape. I love taking photos of it! I hope your melt goes quickly and you get a weather break! 😊

No doubt about it, you have to cease the moment.

You sure do, especially in January! It looks like the rest of the month is going to be rainy, but thankfully no more cold snaps.

Yes, the pictures do look cold but it was actually nice out. Wind-still with +6, so it was great for walking.

For walking, okay. Not ready for a dip yet.

Oh no – definitely no dipping!

Do they have the Polar Bear Swim in the Okanagan? They have it here on New Year’s Day. I think it was the 47th year for it. Crazy!

Yes; here it’s called the Polar Dip. M and I saw people taking the plunge on NYD in Okanagan Lake. It’s not organised in Penticton, people do it just for fun. In Naramata it’s organised as a fundraiser (apparently $1000 raised for firefighting this year). Definitely not my thing!

Definitely don’t want to invite one of those!

Glad to hear you’re back to more normal and warmer weather, even if it comes with some rain. The now sure looks pretty though.

We sure are, too. I will take rain any day over that frigid blast and the follow-up snow! Agreed – it is a lovely valley, even when the weather conditions aren’t the best.

It has been a brutally cold winter; warmer weather is always a relief. Beautiful photos!

Thank you very much. 😊 We had a lot of rain today, so the snow at the lower elevations is gone. Will take a bit longer for the ice on the lake, though. Cheers.
