M and I recently stopped to give our resident duck flock some cooked quinoa which they love. As soon as they realised we were stopping with treats, we were mobbed.

Have a ducky Saturday.

Thank you. 🙂 It was chaotic with them flying and running from everywhere!

Ducks are always so hopeful looking. It is like they can not believe it when someone brings them a ytreat. Happy Saturday Lynette. Allan

Thanks, Allan.
There was one in particular just staring at M in the most beseeching way. It’s quite an experience just to hear their movement – the flapping and running. Cheers.

I thought it funny that they love quinoa! But I guess it is a tasty grain 😊

They seem to love it and it’s also a lot better for them than bread or crackers. Cheers. 😊

Who knew ducks like cooked quinoa 😊

Right? These ducks are well fed. I’ve seen people bringing lettuce and other veggies for them. The city will also feed them if it gets cold and snowy (last winter it was unusually cold here). Cheers.

Yes, I think they do pretty well. 🙂

I think they are extra hungry in the cold weather. Their natural food sources are scarcer so they love people who come to feed them. I agree with you on the bread and crackers. They need food that is much like what they naturally eat.

I agree, Anneli, and there’s not a lot for them to eat right now. They seem to be doing well however and I frequently see people giving them veggies, in particular. They go mad for the quinoa, though. It seems to be a favourite. Cheers.

That’s good to know about the quinoa. BTW, I pruned my poinsettia as you suggested and it’s doing way better, so thank you for that!

You’re very welcome – glad to hear that! As I recall they like to be a bit dry as well. My mother used to water them only about once a week and she also didn’t let them sit in water. Cheers.

Just by good luck, that’s what I’ve been doing. I water my orchids once a week (2 ice cubes a week) and so the poinsettia has received the same treatment except I use straight water for it.
