An ancient mangrove root lies helpless next to a forest path …

… its exterior weathered and knobbed and twisted, seemingly discarded …

… but it will become an orchid nursery …

… helping the little ones to grow and shine; age and beauty entwined.

Nature is the ultimate recycler. If only we could follow her example. That root is loaded with character.

It sure is, Steve. Definitely – if we could follow its example we would be a lot better off. That root is fascinating.

Life can begin again from decay. These big old trees have seen it all. Happy Saturday Lynette. Allan

There was a sign near this log saying that it is going to be moved to the nearby orchid garden. On the other side of the trail there’s revitalisation of a mangrove swamp taking place. Those trees are amazing, adapted as they are to living in fresh and salt water.

Loads of designs in that root, and of course, what’s not to love about an orchid?

Yes, I stood looking at it for a long time as the designs are really something. Agreed – orchids are so lovely, and this old root will provide a good home.

The cycle of life where the old makes way for the new. That is one beautiful orchid.
